Making Music at MWQA

Again this year we were blessed with safe travels, good friends, and great music at the Midwest Quartet Convention in Des Moines, IA. We arrived late Thursday afternoon and after checking in at our hotel headed over to Grace Church for the evening banquet and Gaither-style sing which over 200 people attended. Thursday night is always like a special family time . . . a very intimate setting. We enjoyed dinner together and then heard music from Grace Quartet, the Gates Family, Three Redeemed, Special Delivery, the Chancellors, and even a duet by Nate from Higher Power and his daughter, Wendy. Each group shared a couple of songs and in between those special numbers we joined together singing classics like “Standing on the Solid Rock” and “Amazing Grace”. What a great way to start off the weekend!

Friday morning started at 10:00am with the Showcase concerts which featured Special Delivery, Three Redeemed, and Faithfulmen Quartet (coming to the 2006 Gospel Music Extravaganza in Cando), Living Sacrifice, Crimson River, Gospel Truth, Journey Bound, the Browns, Higher Power, and more! We see most of these groups at other sings throughout the year so many of them have become dear friends and it’s like a reunion to get to see them at Midwest!

There are also regular MWQA Convention fans who we have gotten to know over the years as well as some very faithful friends from home who made the effort to be at the convention in Des Moines . . . even though we didn’t have a bus this year! They, too, are dear friends and we are always glad to see them and enjoy music with them. Many of us were in the same hotel so we continued a tradition that started last year . . . our friends from Wisconsin brought their homemade cheese, Deb brought all kinds of cookies and goodies, another couple brought crackers, and we brought the guitar and had a post-MWQA party Saturday night at the hotel!
These people love the Lord and love music!!

Of course what makes this music and the people involved with MWQA so special is the sweet Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. He speaks through each of us and to each of us and we all walk away loving Him more and so thankful to be part of His family.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience the joy of knowing Him we pray that you will open your heart to Jesus and receive all that He offers us . . . unconditional love, forgiveness, and hope. And we’d love to hear from you, too!

Praying for each of you, dear friends . . .
